Maureen McGlynn enjoyed a 27-year career with The Nielsen Company, the majority of which was spent in client relationship management. Her client service career began in Menlo Park, California, during which time she gained exposure to a broad range of consumer packaged goods manufacturers in a wide variety of industries including wine, cosmetics, household cleaners and grocery products. As a result of Ms. McGlynn’s success expanding existing business relationships and cultivating new clients, she was tapped to establish, and ultimately lead, a new Nielsen client service office in Southern California.
Ms. McGlynn assumed additional leadership responsibilities when she was asked to relocate to Nielsen’s Chicago headquarters to help establish the company’s first National Accounts group. In that role, she developed the strategy and practice of managing large, geographically-dispersed corporate clients as single teams, ensuring the consistent application of agreements, sharing of team resources, communication of best-demonstrated practices, and linking of service initiatives to clients’ strategic goals. That same year, she solidified the national accounts concept by negotiating and executing the first umbrella agreement for Nielsen services across the disparate U.S. operating units of a large, multi-national client.
Prior to Ms. McGlynn’s departure from The Nielsen Company, she negotiated a new eight-year agreement with the U.S. businesses of that same multi-national company, representing the longest client contract in existence across global Nielsen. During these negotiations, she was also selected by Nielsen senior management to address several challenging client relationships, which she successfully resolved through her strategic vision and consistent application of proven client service principles.
Ms. McGlynn left her position as Senior Vice President in October 2006, having been acknowledged throughout her career by many prestigious awards, including MVP of the Year, Manager of the Year, Team of the Year, and three separate Arthur C. Nielsen Jr. Global awards. Currently, Ms. McGlynn is a freelance writer specializing in the subject of client relationship management, and a marketing consultant in the consumer packaged goods and Concierge Medicine fields.
